Construction project management and head contractor services
DICE Contracting provides construction project management and head contractor services for government agencies, head contractors and community organisations, taking building projects from concept through to commissioned handover as a single point of accountability.
- Head contractor delivery
- Design & construct
- Multi-site programmes
- Heritage works
- Hazardous materials management
- Superintendent liaison
Our project managers have one job: turn the client’s brief into a completed asset with no surprises along the way.
We scope materials, costs, timeframes and risk contingencies upfront, then manage approvals, trades, safety, quality and reporting as a single point of accountability.
What our project management covers
- Design and construct, with the full scope managed from concept to completion
- Head contractor delivery: procurement, subcontractor management, site control, single-point responsibility
- Planning and programming across timelines, materials, contractors, budgets and risk
- WHS compliance and quality assurance to the client’s requirements as well as ours
- Superintendent liaison, approvals and authority coordination
- Handover: commissioning, as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, defect liability management
Multi-site programme delivery
A dispersed portfolio is a different problem from a single site, and we have solved it more than once. The NSW courthouses contract for BGIS ran urgent works across six locations from Lismore to Port Macquarie to Broken Hill inside six weeks, with project managers deployed statewide.
The Aboriginal Child and Family Centres programme for NSW Family and Community Services spans nine centres, many regional or remote, and runs on a preventative maintenance plan we developed for the network.
Staging works around live operations
DICE specialises in operating in live environments and has completed projects of many sizes in sensitive settings including schools, courthouses, child care centres and detention centres, consistently with minimal impact on facilities and the people using them.
Our project managers stage works around court sitting days, custodial movements, school terms and care hours.
Indigenous participation planning
Every DICE-managed project includes an Indigenous participation approach: prioritising Indigenous-owned subcontractors and suppliers, creating apprenticeship and traineeship positions, and mentoring Indigenous businesses in the supply chain so they can compete independently.
Projects that prove it
NSW Courthouses
DICE Contracting delivered $2 million of urgent flooring and painting works across six NSW courthouse locations for BGIS in a six-week programme, completed July 2020.
Aboriginal Child & Family Centres
DICE Contracting has delivered $2.2 million of upgrade and maintenance works across nine Aboriginal Child and Family Centres in NSW for NSW Family and Community Services, in an ongoing programme.
Project Management: questions we get asked
Does DICE Contracting act as head contractor?
Yes. DICE Contracting takes full head contractor responsibility: procurement, subcontractor management, WHS and quality compliance, programme, cost control and single-point client reporting.
Does DICE Contracting offer design and construct?
Yes. DICE Contracting manages the full scope from concept and design development through approvals to construction and commissioned handover.
How does DICE Contracting control cost and programme?
We price the materials, the time, and the things that could go wrong before anyone starts, then track all three through bills of quantities, budget reporting and a Gantt programme the client sees regularly.
Can DICE Contracting manage a project across multiple sites at once?
Yes. On the NSW courthouses contract for BGIS, DICE Contracting managed urgent works across six locations from Lismore to Port Macquarie to Broken Hill within a six-week programme.
Does DICE Contracting work on heritage-listed government buildings?
Yes, including heritage works across the NSW Justice portfolio, supported by a network of specialist heritage subcontractors developed through that work.
Can DICE Contracting manage asbestos and lead-based paint removal?
Yes, with documented control plans, licensed removal contractors, air monitoring and clearance certification.
Our other service lines
Building & Construction
Capital works, extensions, fitouts and security upgrades for government and community clients. Most of it happens on occupied, operational and secure sites.
02Building Remediation & Refurbishment
Rectification of fire, flood, contamination and compliance failures in occupied public buildings. This is our strongest evidenced capability, and the programme is almost always urgent.
04Facilities Maintenance
Statutory, preventative and reactive maintenance across dispersed government property portfolios, including communities that have no specialist contractor market of their own.
05Civil Works
Site civil packages supporting building programmes, plus standalone community infrastructure. We own the plant, so a remote site never waits on a hire market that barely exists.
06Carpentry & Joinery
Carpentry crews we employ directly. That is how we hold tight programmes on remediation work inside operating facilities.
