Commercial building and construction in live, operating facilities

DICE Contracting is a licensed commercial builder (NSW licence 293927C) delivering fitouts, refurbishments, extensions, security upgrades and new building works for Australian government agencies, head contractors and community organisations.

Building and construction works by DICE Contracting
  • Capital works programmes
  • Commercial building works
  • Minor & major works
  • Extensions & fitouts
  • Security fabric upgrades
  • Demolition & strip-out

Good builders care about the craft, the community and the finished job. Every DICE project gets that whatever its size. Our licensed carpenters and builders bring precision skills built up over decades, and our project managers clear the way so the trade teams can get on with it.

A $50,000 compliance rectification and a $4.5 million multi-trade remediation get the same attention.

What we build

  • Refurbishments and repairs to existing buildings, including buildings of cultural or heritage value
  • Commercial building works: capital expenditure programmes, minor and major works, extensions and additions
  • Interior fitout and alterations: walls, ceilings, flooring, joinery, painting, services coordination
  • Security fabric upgrades: purpose-built security doors and windows, anti-climb walls, non-contact rooms, screening equipment installation
  • Carpentry and joinery: structural carpentry, custom joinery and fine finishing
  • Demolition and strip-out, including staged demolition inside occupied buildings
  • Modular and demountable buildings: supply, siting and connection

Working in live environments

Most of our work happens in buildings that cannot close, which changes the planning as much as the building. We stage works into zones and programme the noisy, dusty activities around facility routines. Fire and egress compliance holds throughout. Dust and contamination are controlled, every worker is screened and inducted to the client’s site requirements, and each zone is handed back fully commissioned before the next one opens.

On the Youth Justice Centre Riverina security and accommodation upgrade, the entire $1.5 million programme was staged so the centre remained operational throughout.

Heritage and culturally significant buildings

A lot of government buildings are heritage-listed, regional courthouses especially. Our Justice portfolio work built us a network of specialist heritage subcontractors across NSW, and we handle the approvals, methodologies and materials that heritage fabric demands.

Where a site carries cultural significance, we sit down with Traditional Owners and local community before anyone builds to a drawing. The yarning circle at Port Macquarie Courthouse came out of exactly that conversation.

How a DICE building project runs

  • Scope and site inspection, including the constraints imposed by live operations
  • Bill of quantities, estimate and programme, with materials, costs, timeframes and risk contingencies scoped upfront
  • Pre-construction: approvals, WHS documentation, SWMS, ITPs, staging plan, client sign-off
  • Delivery by self-performed trades plus vetted specialists, with weekly reporting
  • Handover: commissioning, as-builts, warranties, defect liability and, where required, a maintenance plan
