Commercial carpentry and joinery for government and heritage buildings

Our carpenters are on our payroll. That is what lets us hold tight programmes on refurbishment and remediation work inside operating facilities.

It is also where the apprentice pipeline sits, and where our contracts produce the most direct Indigenous employment outcomes.

Heritage timber and restoration carpentry

Regional courthouses and other heritage government buildings need carpentry that matches the existing fabric down to the profiles, species, fixings and finishes. We have delivered heritage works across the NSW Justice portfolio, including roof restoration at Murwillumbah Courthouse, backed by a network of specialist heritage subcontractors built up through that work.

Security and custom joinery

In justice, corrections and immigration facilities, joinery has to survive deliberate attack as well as ordinary wear. We have installed purpose-built security windows and doors at Youth Justice Centre Riverina, and built anti-climb walls and a non-contact room at Adelaide Immigration Transit Accommodation.

Remediation carpentry

Fire, flood and vermin remediation is largely a carpentry problem. Strip out damaged linings, repair or replace structure, then reinstate linings, doors, joinery and finishes. At Wellington Correctional Centre, removing and reinstating every damaged and contaminated interior lining across a whole jail wing was what held the three-month programme together.

Apprenticeships and the trade pipeline

A local apprentice carpenter taken on for the Tyalgum General Store rectification has since worked on the Murwillumbah Courthouse roof restoration and the Youth Justice Centre Acmena refurbishment. An additional apprentice was employed at DICE’s North Coast location through the BGIS courthouses contract.
